Challenge Studio Info Night
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 @ 6:00PM and 7:30PM
There will be a formal presentation of our program, a few students will share their experiences, and you will have an opportunity to ask questions. As our auditorium only has capacity for 340 people, we will be holding two sessions: one from 6:00-7:00pm and another from 7:30-8:30pm. To ensure that each session does not exceed capacity, we will have families book through Eventbrite. A link will be provided in early October. Please check back here.
Mini School Registration
Monday, November 16 to Thursday, December 17, 2026
To be considered by any mini school program, students must register with the VSB District Mini School General Registry. Please note that in order to be considered, students are also required to submit an application package to each mini school program separately.
Challenge Studio Assessment
Wednesday, December 9, 2026
Part of the application process includes a 1-hour assessment held at Hamber. Students will be assigned to either the 3:45-4:45pm sitting or the 5:00-6:00pm sitting. The assessment consists of three sections, each focussing on English, Socials, and Science concepts. Advanced preparation is not required. To take part in this assessment, please register HERE.
Note that registration closes on Wednesday, December 2, 2026. Parents of registrants will be contacted on Friday, December 4, 2026 with further details. This is the only date that the assessment will be available, so we kindly ask that you make any necessary arrangements to ensure your child's participation.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to in-person group interviews. Emails will be sent to parents on Thursday, January 28, 2027. Interviews will be conducted during the school day. Applicants should expect to spend either the morning or afternoon with us. More details will be provided in the email.
First Round Offers
Wednesday, February 17, 2027
Students being offered a spot in the program will be contacted via parent email.

We are requesting the following items to help determine the suitability of applicants.
- The Hamber Challenge Studio Program Application Form with five questions answered. (You'll find this at the bottom of this page and on the "Documents" page)
- Three report cards: 1) a copy of your Grade 6 mid-year report card and 2) a copy of your Grade 6 final report card and 3) a copy of your Grade 7 mid-year report card which VSB schools issue before Winter Break. (for private schools, please email your Grade 7 report card once you receive it)
- A 60-to 90-second video sharing your passion(s). You must appear and speak in the video, but the format is up to you. Show us who you are! You should upload your video to a platform of your choice, and then send us only the link. Unfortunately, limited capacity does not allow for the uploading of the video itself. Note: Please ensure that your video can be downloaded, as it makes it easier for us to access and to avoid the issue of expiry dates. Please check your permissions. Suggested platforms: OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud. Please do NOT use YouTube. Videos will only be seen by the admissions panel. Please submit a link to your video HERE.
